    A Framework for Performance Evaluation of VANETs Using NS-3 Simulator

    During the last decade, the number of vehicles on roads has been rapidly growing. Therefore, the demands for communication on the move are also increasing and the attention from many researchers is focused on the Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) because of their importance for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). Due to the complexity and cost of practical evaluation of VANETs, the researchers often rely on network simulation in order to evaluate their work. In this paper, we have developed a Network Simulator 3 (NS-3) based framework for VANETs that provides network performance analysis based on the key performance indicators such as throughput, packet loss ratio, overhead, end-to-end delay, jitter, etc. Since VANETs are highly dynamic networks, many researchers have proposed different routing protocols in order to improve the network performance. In this paper we have compared several topology-based routing protocols, and proposed utilization of the commonly used Expected Transmission Count (ETX) metric to improve VANET performance.</p

    Savremeni merni sistemi se u novije vreme suočavaju sa sve većim izazovom da zadovolje rastuće potrebe za merenjem različitih fizičkih veličina uz korišćenje velikog broja senzora koji su često distribuirani na širokom geografskom prostoru. S obzirom na to da se za povezivanje senzora i aktuatora koristi veliki broj različitih mrežnih interfejsa i protokola, proizvođači i korisnici moraju uložiti izuzetan napor kako bi obezbedili odgovarajuću podršku za sve aktuelne mrežne interfejse. Sa druge strane, konfiguracija i održavanje složenih mernih sistema koji sadrže različite tipove i sisteme povezivanja senzora predstavlja skup i zahtevan proces, posebno ako se on sprovodi manuelno, imajući u vidu da je unošenje brojnih važnih parametara senzora dugotrajan proces a uz to i podložan greškama. Kao rešenje navedenog problema nameće se upotreba inteligentnih senzora, koji podržavaju Plug and Play koncept, čime bi se obezbedila automatizacija procesa povezivanja, konfiguracije i održavanja senzora. Uvođenjem Plug and Play koncepta za povezivanje senzora i aktuatora ostvarile bi se značajne uštede i omogućila potpuno automatizovana konfiguracija mernih i kontrolnih sistema. Imajući u vidu prednosti koje pruža upotreba mrežnih senzora i primena Plug and Play koncepta u njihovom povezivanju i konfigurisanju, organizacije za standardizaciju prepoznale su važnost ove tehnologije i predložile veći broj standarda u ovoj oblasti. Usvajanje i šira primena odgovarajućih standarda pomogli bi da se prevaziđu mnogi problemi vezani za kompatibilnost i interoperabilnost merne opreme različitih proizvođača. S obzirom da skup standarda IEEE 1451 predstavlja najprihvatljiviji okvir za mrežno povezivanje analognih pretvarača, u ovoj doktorskoj disertaciji detaljno su analizirane mogućnosti proširenja primene ove familije standarda u mrežnom povezivanju specifičnih klasa analognih senzora. Jedan od važnih rezultata predložene doktorske disertacije je doprinos uvođenju Plug and Play koncepta u oblast detekcije i monitoringa jonizujućeg zračenja. S obzirom da današnji sistemi za monitoring jonizujućeg zračenja ne koriste u potpunosti ovaj široko primenjivani koncept, posebna pažnja posvećena je primeni...Modern measurement systems have the important task to meet growing demands for measuring the increasing number of different physical quantities, using a large number of sensors often distributed over a wide area. With the existence of a multitude of incompatible networks and protocols, development efforts required to support variety of sensor interfaces and network protocols are enormous for both sensor producers and users. On the other hand, configuration and maintenance of various sensor types in complex measurement systems, is a demanding and expensive task, especially if it is carried out manually, bearing in mind that writing a number of important parameters of the sensor is a time-consuming process and very susceptible to errors. Solution to this problem appeared in the form of smart sensors that enable Plug and Play concept and provide automation of the process of sensor connecting, configuration and maintenance. Introducing the Plug and Play concept to connect sensors and actuators would be quite useful in measurement and control systems that will lead to self-configuring and automatic system set-up. Numerous benefits offered by networked sensors and application of Plug and Play concept for connecting these sensors are recognized by organizations for standardization that gave proposals for a series of standards. Adoption and wider application of appropriate standards would help to overcome many compatibility issues and to solve problems related to the interoperability of transducers from different vendors. Since the IEEE 1451 standard represents the most appropriate framework for connecting analog transducers in the network, possibilities to extend the application of this family of standards in network connection of specific classes of analog sensors were analyzed in detail in this thesis. One important goal of this thesis is to advance the Plug and Play concept in the field of ionizing radiation monitoring. Unfortunately, today’s radiation monitoring systems use little or no Plug and Play technology at all.     Ispitivanje biokompatibilnosti nanokompozitnog biomaterijala za kontrolisanu dostavu klindamicina - test citotoksičnosti

    Nano sfere kompozitnog biomaterijala poli(d,l-laktid-ko-glikolid)/hidroksiapatit u kojima je imobilisan/inkapsuliran antibiotik mogu imati širok aplikativan značaj kao sistemi sa kontrolisanom i ciljanom dostavom lekova u rekonstrukcijama humanih tvrdih tkiva. Ispitivanje citotoksičnosti je prvi korak u ocenjivanju biokompatibilnosti ovog biomaterijala. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se ispita citotoksičnost nanokompozitnog biomaterijala poli(d,l-laktid-ko-glikolid)/hidroksiapatit sa sadržajem antibiotika klindamicina od 0%, 1%, 5% i 10%. Citotoksičnost ispitvanog materijala je određena testom odbacivanja boje (DET-Dye exclusion test) i kolorimetrijskim testom sa tetrazolijum solima (MTT-test). Ispitivanje je rađeno na fibroblastima kontinuiranih ćelijskih linija L929 i MRC5. Rezultati istraživanja su pokazali visoku biokompatibilnost ispitivanog biomaterijala bez obzira na udeo antibiotika klindamicina i nizak nivo citotoksičnosti kod svih sadržaja antibiotika
